Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.

Experience Requirement:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of tactical network systems engineering functions is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted with an additional five (5) years of related experience performing tactical network systems engineering functions.

Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated System Engineer I to join our team, providing essential engineering support for tactical network systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a foundational understanding of systems engineering processes and will contribute to the development and modernization of network capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems Engineering Support: Execute systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices in support of acquisition programs, including development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management.
  • Network Architecture: Provide engineering support on transport and networking architecture, focusing on current and future tactical network capabilities.
  • Technical Evaluations: Assist in design reviews and perform thorough technical evaluations and assessments of network performance and architectures, including risk assessments and integration strategies.
  • Capability Support: Engage in Capability Set (CS) and Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) activities, providing technical support to evaluate and integrate new technologies to modernize communications.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with organizations such as PEO C3T, other PMs, PdMs, ACM, and other Army-wide stakeholders to coordinate interoperability considerations.
  • Documentation Review: Review and comprehend acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, operational needs statements, Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), technical specifications) for Army tactical communications systems. Translate those requirements to support the development of standards-based and cost-efficient technical solutions.
  • Proposal Review: Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy to ensure requirements are met.

Proven Competency Required:

  • Familiarity with network engineering.
  • Experience in designing and implementing LANs or VLANs.
  • Understanding of routing protocols, multicast, routing configurations, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing.
  • Proficiency in network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
  • Experience with VMware and knowledge of commercial communications equipment.
  • Understanding of transport and network architectures.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end network design and performance, as well as voice/data transmission and backbone networks.
  • Basic knowledge of RF engineering and tactical communications systems.
