Test Engineer II

Security Clearance: Secret

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
    (Note: A BS can be substituted with an additional 5 years of related experience performing tactical network test engineering functions.)

Experience Requirement:

  • A minimum of 3 years of related tactical network test engineering experience.

Job Description:

We are looking for a qualified Test Engineer II to join our team in the evaluation and testing of tactical network systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing test plans, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring that systems meet operational standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating testing efforts and analyzing technical data to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of tactical network items and systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Planning: Prepare and review detailed test plans, including types of tests to be conducted, required facilities, proposed schedules, and estimated project costs.
  • Performance Testing: Conduct performance tests and evaluations of tactical network items and systems to validate their functionality and operational performance.
  • Resource Management: Ensure sufficient equipment and resources, including personnel, are available to effectively perform testing tasks.
  • Data Evaluation: Analyze and evaluate technical data, including instrumentation readings, calculations, and deficiency reports, to ensure valid results and identify potential weaknesses or failures.
  • Design Analysis: Review design and specification proposals from manufacturers to ensure compliance with specified general requirements; make recommendations regarding design feasibility, time, cost estimates, and technical phases.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate testing requirements with other engineers, subject matter experts, and PdMs, as well as other organizations to ensure successful testing execution.

Required Expertise:

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DoD, DA, acquisition, and ATEC Test & Evaluation (T&E) policies and regulations.
  • Instrumentation Knowledge: Understanding of instrumentation systems, data collection, reduction techniques, and relevant commercial/military standards.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Proven ability to apply data analysis techniques effectively.
  • Evaluation Strategies: Ability to develop evaluation strategies that include design of experiments and modeling/simulation techniques.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the architecture, protocols, security, network management, and physics underlying tactical network systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or 5 years of additional related experience performing tactical network test engineering functions.
  • 3 years of tactical network test engineering experience with a solid record of conducting performance tests and evaluations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze technical data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
