Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer V to develop, integrate, and maintain software solutions in support of tactical network systems. The candidate will work closely with Army stakeholders, vendors, and warfighters to understand requirements and deliver software tools and capabilities that meet operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Design and develop new software applications to respond to evolving needs, integrating emerging technologies, data sources, and communication protocols into tactical network environments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with diverse Army stakeholders to gather requirements, identify needs, and deliver high-quality software solutions that address mission-critical objectives.
- User-Centric Development: Incorporate user feedback to improve and evolve software capabilities over time, ensuring solutions remain effective and user-friendly.
- Prototyping and Deployment: Develop secure, high-performance software prototypes that are capable of transitioning smoothly into full deployment within operational environments.
- Collaboration and Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with project teams, government leadership, technical representatives, vendors, and end-users, both in person and virtually.
- Technical Documentation: Produce thorough documentation and maintain version control systems to ensure transparency and quality throughout the software development process.
- Testing and Feedback Integration: Apply test-driven development practices and operational feedback to enhance software performance and reliability.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to continually improve software processes, security protocols, and performance measures.
Technical Skills and Requirements:
- Software Development Expertise: Proficiency in software development using Java, C#, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Service Architecture and APIs: Strong experience working with REST, Open API, and service-oriented architectures.
- Virtualization and Containers: Experience with virtualization technologies, containerization tools (e.g., Docker), and database management.
- Linux and Scripting: Expertise with Linux scripting frameworks, PowerShell scripting, and automation for deployment and configuration management.
- Version Control: Proficient in managing and utilizing version control systems (e.g., Git) for source code management and collaborative development.
- Test-Driven Development: Experience with test-driven development methodologies and integrating user feedback into software solutions.
- Cross-Platform Development: Familiarity with Microsoft PowerShell, group policy implementations, and cross-platform development.
- Software Solutions in Tactical Environments: Proven ability to develop software solutions using C, C++, JavaScript, and other web technology languages for integration into tactical network systems.
- Operational Insight: Strong understanding of tactical network operations, communication protocols, and software requirements for secure and mission-critical systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of related tactical network software engineering experience.
- Experience developing secure, performance-driven software for tactical networks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, and REST/Open API architectures.
