Senior Proposal Manager

Department: Corp
Office: Remote

JANUS Research Group is looking for a remote Senior Proposal Manager to join our team.

The Senior Proposal Manager is primarily responsible for planning, scheduling, and guiding the timely development and delivery of high-quality responses to business opportunities, from pre-RFP to post-submission activities, in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the Senior Proposal Manager will assist in business development activities including opportunity identification, qualification, and capture planning. The ideal candidate is a thought leader—able to see the big picture without overlooking the details—who fosters a positive, collaborative, and responsive team environment and can quickly adapt to dynamic proposal development schedules and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence the successful development of compliant, competitive, and compelling proposals through effective collaboration with internal staff, corporate partners, consultants, and supporting vendors.
  • Serve as a senior team member, providing mentorship, guidance, and proposal development best practices to matrixed proposal teams—including proposal managers, coordinators, writers, and subject matter experts—without direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the writing and/or development of proposal and follow-up responses that promote JANUS capabilities and support its strategic imperatives.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise, leadership, and proposal management skills to contribute to and review complex proposals, ensuring non-standard requirements are properly identified and addressed.
  • Draft and contribute to key sections of proposals, particularly for complex or high-priority opportunities, providing strategic and persuasive input across technical, management, and/or other volumes.
  • Translate discovery findings, technical solutions, and capture strategies into clear and effective proposal content that demonstrates JANUS’ differentiators and understanding of customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the JANUS proposal knowledgebase by curating high-quality, reusable content and templates that support team efficiency and quality.
  • Evaluate and improve proposal processes and workflows, recommending refinements to increase quality, efficiency, and consistency across efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML-enabled tools (e.g., content generation, compliance validation, knowledge management, response automation) to enhance proposal development practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess, pilot, or adopt new AI/ML technologies that increase proposal team productivity, accelerate response timelines, or improve response quality.
  • Provide informed recommendations on the integration and scaling of AI/ML solutions within JANUS’ broader business development and proposal infrastructure.
  • Support additional business development or corporate initiatives and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with preferential consideration offered to graduates in communications or technical fields

Computer Skills:

  • Expert level skill in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, required
  • Expert level skill in Adobe Acrobat preferred
  • Expert level skill in using AI/ML tools (e.g., GovDash) to rapidly develop high-quality proposal artifacts

Target salary range: $110k-$130k. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
